Still waiting on my Cupid Mystery makeup box....glad I know what's in it. In polishes I only have America as a dupe, I don't mind getting another rock star hand cream, since I skipped December box so I am excited about the eye shadow palette, but I am not that crazy about Julep's mascaras...I find them to be on a dry side. thanks for the sneak peak ;)

DeleteI had a lot of trouble deciding between the make up or mani box, but thank god I chose the mani box. I have Nan, the eyeshadow palette, and the eye primer. Although I already have Bette from the mani box, my sister's birthday is next week, so I can just pass it on to her c:

ReplyDeleteI don't unfortunately. I didn't get it in mine, and all I've seen in photos were the polishes still in the little white holders so the colors were indeterminable.

ReplyDeleteI wish I would have seen this spoiler before I purchased...I was debating on whether or not to buy this mystery box(I regretted not getting the Diamond Mystery Box), and I bought the pedi/Aphrodite at the last minute. I definitely feel like I drew the short stick for multiple reasons.
ReplyDelete1) I was surprised to only get 3 polishes, while the "mani-lover" box got 4. That doesn't make any sense!
2) One of the three polishes(Karen) was an add-on that you could have added to your box for $3.
3) A foot file basically equals fancy loofah lol
4) The colors don't "go together"/match. Shimmery mauve, deep red and light peach? Nope.
Overall, I will say that the colors are nice by themselves and I'm excited to try the products(except the foot file). I just feel a bit disappointed since this box is tiny in comparison to the previous mystery boxes in the past. Oh well, these things are always hit or misses. Hope you guys are at least happy with your boxes!
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from the nail polishes. I figured they would be colors they can't sell and many I'd probably dislike. But, I got the mani and pedi boxes in hopes of some products I have been wanting (Freedom Top Coat and Doublestep, which I got!) I actually like the colors from the mani and the pedi boxes, so I'm glad I picked those, and didn't get the makeup box which had too many dupes for me to feel good about getting it. I think I took a chance and did pretty well! I'll have the reviews up for mine in a few days!
DeleteI got all three and at first i was like uhh wheres the rest of it? since it said $75 worth I thought it meant current selling value, silly me.
ReplyDeleteThis was my first mystery box so I think I'll be more cautious next time. The whole no duplicates if you buy all three but we'll give you one anyways and count it as full price annoys me. But still, they were a decent deal and I wanted a bunch of the items so I'm happy.
Yeah I remember looking at reviews of the Cupid's Mystery Boxes last year and thought they were so cute, and great V-Day related colors. Not so much this year, lol. I think if I get mine and I have a duplicate I'm going to contact customer service about it anyways. They specifically said no duplicates and even if it's a "bonus" it's still a duplicate. I wouldn't have got multiple boxes if they had said "probably duplicates."
DeleteI'm still waiting for mine. I just joined maven after reading bloggers' reviews. But apparently, julep just changed their skip policy so you can only do so every 6 months. I'm really bummed about that and am considering cancelling after I see next month's box. Plus, the shipping with dhl is horribly slow. The Dhl office is 20 min away from me. It has just been sitting there since Monday. Anyways, thank you for the spoiler pics! It is a great write-up! I chose Mani and am pleased since it's a good starter box as a new maven.
ReplyDeleteFor their Maven boxes, they don't use DHL, they use USPS Priority. They usually arrive to me within 2-3 days if that changes your mind at all.

DeleteI just got my boxes today, after waiting 9 days. My boxes never take this long to get here. I ordered all there and there is overlap in mine too. I only got all three because they said there would be no overlap. I got multiples of the hand creme and a couple of nail colors
ReplyDeleteYeah I was disappointed to see the duplicates when they said there'd be none. I've heard they tried to explain them away by calling them "bonus products" and didn't count towards the value of the box.
DeleteThanks for posting this. Every time I order a mystery box I say, "never again." This time I mean it. I ordered the Venus box and Venus is the only thing I don't already have. And Venus is so similar to Antonia - Venus has round & Antonia has diamond shaped glitter, but same color. Plus I didn't get any of the add on polishes; just a nail file. I can always use the top coat but I don't like the cuticle serum and the Rock Star hand creme, while it is a nice purse size, is still a very small version of the regular size. I am very disappointed. I was hoping for the new cuticle remover/conditioner and maybe, just maybe the cuticle pusher. It seems that they use this Mystery box thing to get rid of overstock or polish that just didn't sell well. It's a good ploy on their part but I have so many polishes now and since they don't put the newer ones in the boxes I think I'll just stop. If one waits long enough eventually each polish goes on sale (mostly) I have found. I'd rather wait and read the reviews first before getting. Very disappointed. I'm waiting for the May box to come out with the new wands and then I'll decide if I want to keep on buying their polishes. They are very expensive for what you get and I feel that the colors just repeat themselves with maybe a slight difference (a little darker, a little lighter, some shimmer, no shimmer, etc.).
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. If I wasn't a new Maven I probably would have been more disappointed, but I was happy with the products, not necessarily the polish colors. If I have an even bigger polish collection by the next mystery box, I may have to skip to avoid duplicates.
