I've recently gotten into Indie fragrances and products, and Haus of Gloi was next on my to-buy list! Haus of Gloi is a vegan bath and body company, and I'm already picking out the next scents I want to try, after my no-buy of course. My order finally arrived, and I was so excited to dig in! They have a list of their main scents that come in various forms, sugar exfoliants, pumpkin butters, soap, perfume oils, etc., and I stuck with perfume oils, pumpkin butters, and one sugar exfoliant.
The thing you have to understand about Indie makeup and cosmetic companies, is that many are one or a few people making and packing the orders. So, many companies have a turnaround time, which is basically how long it will take for your order to ship. Most aren't long, like Haus of Gloi is at 5-7 days now, but once my order shipped it was sent 2-day Priority via USPS and arrived in 2 days from Oregon to California.
Here are the perfumes I got, I only got sample vials because I'm cheap and samples are great for trying scents before you fully commit. So here we go!
Peach Mama - "Peach nectar and a host of resins: offertory frankincense, styrax, copaiba balsam and ambered labdanum absolute. Warmed with cassia and a barely audible breath of black patchouli." Smells mostly resiny to me, but I like it.
Vice - "Steam billows rolling off a vessel of fresh made Turkish coffee, marshmallow goo tainted by graham cracker crumbs, toasted hazelnuts and blanketed in black chocolate." Very sweet, I can smell the slight coffee smell, marshmallow, and graham crackers.
Picaroon - "Sun scorched mahogany bough crusted with a crystalline sea spray. Faint plundered and rare spices. Lemongrass, coconuts, fine Mexican lime and bay rum." Smells like limes and the beach, very refreshing.
Insalata Nocturna - "In the night garden, green Bolivian lemon, rubbed tomato leaf, olive leaf absolute, black fig syrup and basil." Very garden-y smelling, can pick out the lemon, tomato and basil. I just put this on, and it is very light and refreshing. May be one of my favorites, it's clean smelling and isn't too strong.
Many Indie companies send little extras, samples, or candy, but Haus of Gloi sends both! I got a nice little personal note, a piece of candy which I ate, and a sample of another perfume.
Madcap Garden - "A lively blend, pure black tea chilled with peppermint and the tiniest spike of sweet honey. Very unisex, stimulating, addictive, and bright." Smells like pepperminty tea, with a slight sweetness from the honey.
My tower of yummy smelling jars! These mini jars are 2 oz, and are nicely sealed with a liner under the cap, but it was so difficult to remove! I just wanted to smell all the things! I will say I think the pumpkin butter is a tad greasy for my taste, but I feel like it moisturizes well.
Absinthe Sugar Exfoliant - "Hauntingly herbal. Wormwood and anise swim in a creamy green sea of lemon balm and soft glowing mints. A hefty lump of sugar and the tiniest drop of suggestive deep green moss." This was the one I got because it was on clearance, and it smells how I imagine absinthe would taste. Very liquidy sugar scrub.
Narcosa Pumpkin Butter - "A thick haze of tonka and black vanilla, three jasmines, tuberose and ylang ylang." I never would have thought to put jasmine and vanilla together, but it's amazing. I love this one!
Imp Pumpkin Butter - "Peculiar passion fruit mingling with sun cured apricots, perfectly pink grapefruit juice and innocent whispers of wet mimosa blooms." Very fruity and kind of reminds me of a super fruity gum.
Mango Sticky Rice Pumpkin Butter - "Sweet mango, coconut infused rice and toasted sesame." I can't really pick out the mango in this one, mostly smells like coconut cake to me. It's not as complex, but it's quite nice once it's on the skin.
Satyr Pumpkin Butter - "Italian blood orange drizzled with blackened vanilla." Blood orange and vanilla. Such a simple mix, but oh so good!
Litchi Milk Tea Pumpkin Butter - "Tart lychee fruit and black tea met with a splash of coconut milk." Reminds me of the Rainbow Honey Sakura Matsuri scent with the lychee, but with the mix of coconut it's very light and fruity.
Overall, I really love these products from Haus of Gloi and I will definitely order from them again. A reminder, their Summer collection will only be around a little while longer, and the Fall collection arrives on August 24th, so if that tempts you, get to it!
