It's time for my August Birchbox review, and I was contemplating not even writing this review, because I was so bummed about my box. Total miss for me this month, but I figured I should just suck it up and write this anyways.
This was probably the fastest my Birchbox ever got to me, and it even took a detour from Tennessee to New Jersey, and then all the way over to California. 7 days! It even got here before the 10th, which is when you can go on to your account and see the products you got in your box. I would have been spoiler free if I had been home to actually open this box before the 10th, but I wasn't sadly. Or not so sad, because I probably would have been pretty bummed.
amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo - ($3) I think this was the one item in my box I actually wanted and was excited to try. I love dry shampoos and this one smells really good, and works well. I will have to do a direct comparison against my other favorite Klorane Dry Shampoo.
Naobay Body Radiance Lotion - ($2.88) I got this last month as well, and it smells like grapefruits to me. It's really nothing special, and I have so much lotion already that I just don't need this.
Noir Long Wear Eyeliner - ($15) ...I don't even know what to say about this, it's another black eyeliner I won't use. It doesn't matter that it's full size either, because I don't need or want more black eyeliner...ever!
Dr. Jart+ Dis-A-Pore Beauty Balm - ($3.60) Pore refining products usually don't do much for me, because they tend to be a little drying and my face is already dry. If I can manage to apply them without making my face look more dry than it already is, I do tend to like the look of my face. I haven't decided how I feel about this yet, I may trade it, I may keep it.
Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream - ($2?) Eye cream...I don't even care that this is Benefit, I have so many eye creams. In fact, I got two last month from Birchbox, so I'm overwhelmed with eye creams. I am using these though, just because they're small, and I get a lot of satisfaction out of finishing a sample. Each of these packets are good for about 2-3 uses.
Overall, August's Birchbox had a total value of $26.48. While I am glad I got the Amika this month, the rest of this box was just very boring to me. I found out what was in it, and I didn't even want to open my box. It's always a bummer when you only like one sample out of 5, but hopefully next month will be better for me. I went ahead and basically emptied out my beauty profile, as I found this usually got me better boxes on my other accounts.
What did you think of August's Birchbox? Let me know in the comments!
Birchbox is only $10 a month and they send you 5-6 (usually sample size) products. If you really like the sample, they offer the full size version on their shop for you to purchase.

I am a black eyeliner freak! I love it. I totally wish I could have gotten that. :)
ReplyDeleteHah no way! I just don't use it enough to keep the inevitable monthly black eyeliner I get :/
DeleteHa! I'd take that eyeliner off your hands in a heartbeat! I don't know how to pull off any other color than black :-/ I think Birchbox takes a trip around the world before landing on my doorstep each month, so I'll probably get it early next week. I hope I get the dry shampoo too! (I'm resisting the urge to take a peek in my account!)
ReplyDeleteWow you have better self control than I do, I would have peeked!
DeleteMine was a halfsy this month -- half good, half meh. I got a Staniac gel stain I love, as well as some Whish shave cream I'm rather fond of. The other samples were OK, but I could have done without.
ReplyDeleteI do like that Whish shaving cream, I should get some more!
