Some of you might not know this, but I used to work retail. I personally didn't mind working Black Friday for the first few years, because it was actually kind of fun. The day went by really fast, you got paid overtime, we got fed where I worked, and after a few hours the mad rush was pretty much over. Well, it was all fine until the year I had to work at midnight on Black Friday, it was starting to encroach on Thanksgiving and family time. Especially since I have cooked and prepared our Thanksgiving dinners for the past few years now. I am thankful I no longer have to work retail, I feel bad for all those missing Thanksgiving with their families because of major companies being greedy and opening earlier and earlier every year.
If you're thinking of silently protesting these stores that open on Thanksgiving, shop indie, online! I thought I would compile a list of the indie companies having a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, along with the discount codes, new releases, and link some of my reviews from the stores I have personally purchased from. I'll also include some turnaround time information about how long I think it will take to get your order, and whether or not it should make it in time for Christmas. USPS is planning on delivering 7 days a week this year for the holidays, and since most indie orders are sent via USPS that should help with receiving your orders on time.
I will be updating this cheatsheet as we learn about more sales, so check back! I'll post what/when it was updated at the top of this post.
