Joe's Brew Club is a monthly subscription box that delivers coffee, chocolate and biscotti in every box. Each month they send a 12 oz bag of whole coffee beans, 4 biscotti dippers, and a various selection of chocolate. Their subscription box is unique in that it's one of the first I've seen to pair coffee with other foods in the box itself. Joe's Brew Club kindly sent me this box for review purposes.
I thought it was very cute that they actually threw in a few coffee beans into the box itself, which I assume was to give it a bit of coffee smell.
Red Rock Roasters Costa Rica Coffee Beans - ($11.25)
I was quite impressed that we got a whole 12 oz bag of whole beans in this box, most places repackage the beans into other bags because they give you a smaller amount. This bean from Costa Rica is a pretty dark roast. I thought it was good, I used a French press to prepare the ground beans.
David's Biscotti (various flavors) - ($3.50)
I think I enjoyed these biscotti the most out of everything, they were really good! They were dense enough to need coffee to soften them up, which is how it should be with biscotti! I liked all the flavors, and I would love to try more from David's Biscotti.
The Chocolate Cartel Dark Chocolate Espresso Beans - ($2)
These chocolate covered espresso beans were ok, but not my favorite. The chocolate itself was just a thin coat, and wasn't sweet enough to counteract the bitterness of the espresso beans. They wouldn't be my go-to for chocolate covered espresso beans.
This chocolate bar is fairly large, and is good quality chocolate. Dark enough for my tastes, but I prefer chocolate bars with something else in them. Other flavors, textures, something.
Overall, I quite liked this box. Joe's Brew Club is unique though in that they get their coffee from one roaster, their chocolate from one chocolate producer, and their biscotti from one bakery. You will get consistency, but not variety. Yes, of course you're not going to get the same items every month, but they're all going to be from the same company. If you don't like what the company produces, then this box probably won't be for you. I would say that I wouldn't want biscotti from any other company because I really loved what I got. I ate them all quite quickly. However, the coffee and the chocolate I would like it if they came from other companies as well as the The Chocolate Cartel and Red Rock Roasters. If you're looking for a coffee subscription that comes with something sweet to go along with it, I would recommend Joe's Brew Club!
